The Management of Technology (MOT) Program, established in 1989, is sponsored by the College of Engineering (COE) and the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. MOT is the most popular interdisciplinary program at UC Berkeley, with classes and fellowship programs made up of Masters and PhD students. An associated MOT Certificate Program allows graduate students to specialize in the Management of Technology as they obtain their degrees.

The MOT Program seeks to address a number of technology management challenges. We define Management of Technology as the set of activities associated with bringing high technology products to the marketplace. There is no such thing as a low-tech industry anymore. If you are planning a career in any industry, you need a good grounding in how technology management differs from traditional methods. MOT focuses on the operational and organizational issues associated with managing new product development and commercialization.

UC Berkeley's Management of Technology Program is the largest of its type at any university in the world. Each year there are nearly 1,500 graduate student enrollees in MOT classes.

Other MOT Related Courses allow students to more deeply understand specific technology management issues, such as information technology management, internet strategy, environmental management, construction management in the technology age, and entrepreneurship in high technology.
