PRABAL DUTTA, PHD CANDIDATE, COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, COMPUTER SCIENCE

Born in India, and raised in Ohio, Prabal holds bachelors and masters degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate and National Science Foundation Fellow in the Computer Science Division at U.C. Berkeley. His current research focus is on the design, implementation, and evaluation of wireless sensor network systems and architectures. Some of his recent research artifacts have been commercialized by Aginova, Arch Rock, Crossbow Technologies and Moteiv (three of which are Berkeley spinoffs) and are in use by hundreds of research and commercial organizations worldwide. His research has led to several large-scale sensor network deployments and 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.

Prior to graduate school, Prabal spent five years working in the consumer electronics and industrial communications sectors. He designed the first virtual reality joystick which won PC Week's "COMDEX Best of Show" award. He also co-founded and grew NetEnabled, a machine-to-machine device networking startup, into a multi-million dollar business that counted among its customers the nation's largest electric utility and the nation's fastest growing oil and gas services company. Prabal's interest in China is focused on understanding semiconductor and electronics supply chains.

PENG LI (李鹏) PHD CANDIDATE, COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING AND OPERATIONS

Peng is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research with concentration in Financial Engineering. His recent research topics include robust asset pricing, dynamic risk measures and hedging, and credit risk modeling. He is also interested in stochastic control, supply chain management and other applications in finance and operations research. He was an intern at Moody’s and Morgan Stanley, and is also excited about developments in China’s financial market. He has been actively involved in promoting Berkeley Chinese society and was the president of Berkeley Chinese Students and Scholars Association. Peng joined the Ph.D. program of IEOR in 2004, and is also pursuing a master degree in Statistics at Berkeley. He earned another M.S. from UC-Davis and his B.A. with honors from Fudan University, both in Applied Mathematics.

MARTINA MARTINA (赖凤箐), MBA CANDIDATE, HAAS SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

Martina is a second year MBA student at the Haas School of Business. Hailing from Indonesia, she did her undergraduate study in Chemical Engineering at UC Berkeley. Afterwards, she worked at Novellus Systems in San Jose as a process engineer. While working at Novellus, she had the opportunity to work in Taiwan and China, and learned how to conduct business in that region. She aims to expand her knowledge of doing business in China through this program and gain more exposure of China’s technology industry. She is hoping to apply this knowledge when she returns to Indonesia.

Adrien Monvoisin
ADRIEN MONVOISIN, MASTERS CANDIDATE, COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Adrien is originally from Paris, France. He graduated from ENSAM in 2006 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering (ME) and is currently pursuing his MS degree in ME. His research mainly focuses on the stress analysis through a Finite Element’s model in Low-K dielectric materials during the Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP), which is a major step in the Integrated Circuits fabrication. One year ago, Adrien did a 3 month internship at Technicatome (Cadaraches, France), a subsidiary of the world nuclear energy expert AREVA where he designed a heat exchanger for a nuclear ground test reactor. In 2004/05, Adrien was also nominated as Chairman of the ENSAM AMJE Cluny, a small company made up by students themselves and working on a variety of projects relevant to the engineering coursework (CAD, website creation, ...). As an ambitious student in the College of Engineering, Adrien values the importance of business skills. The “Middle Kingdom” has a wealth of talent and huge potential on a worldwide scale: the MOT-CRC China Fellowship is a promising opportunity for him to explore Chinese technological advances and business culture.
