
Mayfield Fellows Program Internship Opportunity for SUMMER 2006

The
UC Berkeley Mayfield Fellows Program is now accepting applications for
Summer 2006 internships. Paid summer internships at venture capital-funded
Silicon Valley high tech start-ups will be made available to up to 10
graduate
students at UC Berkeley.
Who may apply?
How
do I apply?
Bring the following materials, stapled together, to Room F-461 in the
Faculty Wing of the Haas School of Business:
(a) a one-page resume
(b)
a one-page
essay stating how you feel you will benefit from the opportunity, and
why you are well suited for this internship
(c) two letters of recommendation,
with at least one, if possible, from a previous employer. Letters of
recommendation
must include the telephone number of both recommenders, who will be
contacted if you are selected as a finalist.
Applications
must be submitted by 12:00
noon on Wednesday, October 26, 2005. Finalists will be interviewed
on November 8; winners will be announced the week of November 14, 2005.
What kind of work will I perform under this internship?
Your work under this internship will be determined by the executives
of the company where you are employed as well as by your background
and level of
experience. The type of work may be senior staff or operational work
involving product management, marketing, business development or
engineering.
How is this program different from other internships?
Being a Mayfield Fellow differs substantially from other corporate internships, in the following ways:
Which companies are hosting the internships?
The companies hosting interns under this program are venture capital-backed
start-ups in various high technology fields, most located in Silicon Valley.
Fellows will begin interviews at these companies in March and April, 2006,
and they and the companies will jointly choose the best fit for both parties
based on opportunities available. Salaries are competitive based on normal
rates in industry, and are paid by the company.
